
Policy for Readmission to Programs
If a person has been evicted, asked to leave, told to leave or removed in any way from any Housing Assistance Program (HAP), that person must:
- Pay restitution to HAP for past due rent or damages.
- Demonstrate to the Program Team of HAP that the behavior(s) that caused the person to be evicted or otherwise removed have changed.
- Be Current with rent.
- Show 6 months of concurrent rental payment in a standard lease agreement or participation agreement in a structured in-patient, or transitional housing or other such housing situations (or concurrent combination of both).
Examples follow but are not limited to:
If a person was asked to leave or evicted for non-payment of rent, the person must be able to show 6 months of regular rent payments on time, in full. A signed lease, and proof of concurrent rent payment by cancelled check or receipts will be required.
Six months of good rental history is required, or six months in a participation agreement in a structured in-patient, transitional housing or other such housing situations.
If a person was asked to leave or evicted for a behavioral problem related to drug use, fighting, etc… the person must show that steps have been taken to correct this problem through counseling or rehabilitation appropriate to the behavior.
The following situations may result in permanently being ineligible for HAP:
- Endangering the life of staff or another resident
- Extensive property damage
- • Sale, the facilitation of sales or the manufacturing of drugs
- Arson
- Prostitution
- Burglary/robbery
- Having been issued a court order of restraint from HAP properties
- Being terminated from HAP programs twice
Consideration will be given to special circumstances related to catastrophic changes in physical or mental health regarding exceptions to this policy.
